The European Budgetary Framework


As the provisions of the European budgetary surveillance framework apply to the general government as a whole, fiscal planning at the level of the Flemish government needs to take into account the obligations stemming from the Stability and Growth Pact and the mechanisms of coordination the general government has established in order to ensure compliance with the European rules. The following text explains inter alia which European rules need to be complied with and how Flanders deals with the setting of the targets for the general government and the breakdown among the various sub-sectors.
