Regular bond October


On Wednesday 13 October 2021, the Flemish Community successfully launched and priced a EUR bond benchmark transaction. More specifically, The Flemish Community raised 1.5 billion euros through a new 10-year bond with maturity date on 20 October 2031.

This transaction again enjoyed an unprecedented success, with a total offer of over 8.2 billion euros by 200 investors from 24 different countries, setting a new record for the Flemish Community both in terms of order book size and number of investors. The 10-year bond with a coupon of 0.300% was placed at a yield of 0.335%. The margin was set at 17 basis points above the OLO yield, which is lower than ever before.

Investors from the Benelux formed the largest group (32.7%), followed by German/Austrian/Swiss investors (26.1%), French investors (14.7%) and Southern European investors (10%). In terms of investor type, the transaction was mainly supported by banks (53.2%), followed by funds & asset management (22.4%), insurance & pension funds (12.9%) and central banks & official institutions (10.4%).
